Strength and endurance are
important as its important for a great workout but with mobility the body will
not remain stiff as mobility excercises will give the muscle enough rest for a
intense workout.
As most of the people want nice and toned legs because of which the legs workout end up pretty intense with heavy weights. But our lazy butt ignores the strecthing excercise after such intense legs workout. There are alot of benefits related to strecthing which includes
1) Decrease muscle stiffness and reduce risk of injury.
2) Post excercies gets better.
3) It does reduce stress.
4) Promotes good circulation of
blood i.e. faster recovery.
5) Decrease the risk of lower
back pain.
Those are all the benefits of stretching excercise most of us ignore because of laziness and regular stretching of legs will make the legs muscle more relax and in the matter of day you will be close to the split.
Split requires flexibility in hamstrings, glutes, and quads but this does not mean you can't achieve split but it will need patience for sure. The hamstrings are mostly stiff because we sit down for the majority of the time and also working out legs makes them stiff.
So these are the 5 beginner
stretching excercises which will take you closer to your goal.
Make sure you warm up the body
before starting stretching excercises because it will help in smooth
strecthing. The warm up can include skipping rope, jumping jack, free squats until you sweat.
1) Quad stretch- 01:30 min
2) Side lunge stretch- 01:30 min
3) Downward dog stretch- 01:00 min
5) Butterfly pose- 01:30 min
6) Split forward pose- 01:00 min
If the body is stiff you will
feel pain while stretching but try to push yourself and hold on to the position
for a given time. By pushing yourself the stiffed muscle will get relax and
flexibility will increase as you push yourself harder. Remember to push yourself
till you can bear the pain, don't go beyond that or else it might end up in
injury.
If you have jont pain, or you
feel instant pain while strectching then back off and continue only after the
pain is relieved.
